The Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport is the sole operational commercial airport in Lebanon. Located 9 km from the Beirut city center, it is the hub for Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines. The airport plays a prominent role in Beirut's infrastructure, handling over 7 million passengers annually. It features three terminals, with a wide range of facilities including lounges and duty-free shops. The airport is named after Rafic Hariri, a former Prime Minister of Lebanon who was assassinated in 2005.
