Another international flight it. Another Centurion Lounge. This is one of the many I’ve visited but a first timer here at the Melbourne International Lounge. Located conveniently near Gate 9, in the middle of most of the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to find. It is downstairs though so use the left if you need to. Check in was smooth and within minutes we were having our simple breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans and sausages. Plus fresh juice, toast and a cuppa tea. The. Back for fresh fruit, muesli and yoghurt. Bar was open at 9am so I guess it really is after 5pm whenever you are in the world. Although the lounge isn’t large, it’s well laid out and the dining area is nicely separate from the living area. Small booths make it easy to do your work or relax in private. Staff are incredibly helpful and you’ll never see dirty plates left on a table. Plus smiles all round when you have a query or request. The music is nice, just a tad loud for me, otherwise, an all round pleasant way to start a trip.
At the end of the day, an airport lounge is a chair, a table, free food & free booze. It definitely has all of that. If I had one issue—it's the music. Relentless piano covers of famous pop songs. Please make it stop.
Small lounge with limited seats. Food however is decent. Selection is limited but quality is decent. Staff is also quick to help. Very decent lounge to spend some time before a flight!
A below average lounge experience. Nobody was available to greet at front desk, so I walked into the lounge and processed entry by the bartender. The lounge wasn’t busy but the staff still weren’t clearing any tables, dirty dishes or wiping down any benches. Took me a few minutes to find somewhere to sit that hadn’t been cluttered with previous guest’s leftovers / dishes. Most of the food options were disappointing and looked like they’d been sitting out all day. The drink selection was also very limited. I ordered one of the chef-made salad bowls from the bar and this was the only redeemable aspect of the lounge visit. 2 stars overall.
What a great little lounge! The staff are amazingly friendly and the environment tranquil. Don't forget to check out the a la carte menu - the vegetarian "Alla Norma" pasta dish is full of flavour and packs quite a kick!
